Accessible Bathroom FAQ

Q: Will my bathroom remodel decrease my home’s resale value if it’s built for handicap access?

A: No, any bathroom remodels that are done correctly will likely add to your home’s resale value, regardless of how much accessibility is incorporated. Handicap accessible bathrooms are usually pretty hard to find when looking for homes to buy!

Q: Will water get all over the floor with my new roll-in shower pan?

A: Not any more than a standard shower. Water that drips off your body as you exit the shower will happen whether you have a step-in or roll-in base. Best Bath roll-in shower pans are all built and designed to slope towards the drain, so water will not flood out into other areas of the bathroom. There are also various water retention and barrier devices that can be added to any shower to reduce splash and drips.

Q: I just want to know a price range for how much it might cost. Why won’t anyone tell me this info without a consultation?

A: No reputable contractor wants to throw a price out there and then run into issues down the road that will affect the cost. Every home is slightly different in its build, character, quirks, and its occupants. Prices can range drastically for a bathroom remodel, anywhere from under $14,000 for the wet area only to well above $65,000 for a full gut and re-do.
